The Great Fiskars Bake-Off for Garden Re-Leaf Day
23rd March 2012
March 2012 - To raise money for GreenFingers, a wonderful charity that creates gardens in children's hospitals, Sankey and Fiskars held the Great Fiskars Bake-Off as part of Garden Re-Leaf Day on March 13th which marks the start of the gardening season. Fiskars employees were challenged to create garden inspired cookies and cakes to raise money. The entries were then sold, with winners receiving a collection of gardening goodies for their efforts. There was tough competition among employees to make the tastiest cakes.
The overall winner of the Bake-Off was Laura Thacker whose chocolate brownies wowed the judges. She won a set of two small Sankey Moroccan planters plus a Fiskars PowerGear Lopper, PowerGear Pruner and Fiskars scissors.
There were two further winners: Karen Hathaway, who handles stock control, delighted with her cute chocolate and sponge brownie hedgehogs; and Dave Bryans from consumer affairs and packing support ,who made the tastiest banana and chocolate chip cake. An extra thanks to Dave who sold his prizes to raise extra money for GreenFingers.
Clare Hooley, Brand Manager of Sankey, who helped organise the day said: "We wanted to celebrate Garden Re-Leaf day internally and connect all of those who work for Fiskars to the start of a new garden season. Garden Re-Leaf is a great initiative and we fully support Green Fingers for the fantastic work they do in providing a wonderful green environment for hospitalised children."
